Delivery
All orders are despatched for home delivery by our courier partners, DPD.
Once you have added items to your basket and clicked through to the checkout page you will be prompted to choose your preferred date for delivery. Available delivery dates are displayed in the drop-down menu box on the checkout page.
You will also be asked to supply a delivery address if this is different from your billing address.
Available delivery dates are calculated based on a ‘next day plus one’ system (e.g. a delivery date will be available if there is one complete 24hr period between that date and the date of placing the order).
All goods will be vacuum packed, labelled and despatched in cardboard chiller boxes lined with wool fleeces and packed with ice. Deliveries will be made using DPD’s next day service. DPD will deliver your order between 9am-8pm.
When and where do we deliver?
We offer standard home delivery every day between Wednesday and Friday, as well as a premium Saturday delivery service. Delivery is limited to mainland UK addresses only and excludes Northern Ireland, Isle of Mann, Isle of Wight, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Channel Islands. Please contact us for delivery surcharges for these excluded areas prior to placing an order.
Is there a minimum order value?
Our minimum order value to qualify for home delivery is £45
How much does delivery cost?
In reality the cost of offering ‘free’ delivery is inevitably added to the product price. Because of this we’ve taken the decision to make a small charge on all deliveries in order to allow us to keep our food costs as low as possible. By placing a small charge on all orders we are also able to offset – and reduce – our charge for lower value orders often purchased by smaller households. Our delivery charges are:
Orders over £80 are charged at £2.95 for standard delivery (Wed-Frid)
Orders under £80 are charged at £5.95 for standard delivery (Wed-Fri)
Orders for premium Saturday delivery are charged £5.00 in addition to the base standard delivery fee.
Delivery Guarantee
On placing your order we will issue you with an email order confirmation. If you have provided a mobile phone number and email address with your order you will also receive a notification from DPD confirming when your delivery is booked.
Full details and tracking of your order is available via the DPD customer app. We recommend downloading the app and using it to monitor progress of your delivery.
DPD will communicate a 1hr predicted delivery slot on the day of delivery by text message or email. Please note this date and time cannot be rearranged or cancelled once issued. Due to the perishable nature of our produce our courier is under instruction not to return any parcel to the depot once out on the road for delivery . They are under instruction to ‘leave safe and notify’ customers.
Due to changes in delivery process DPD, in common with other couriers, no longer operate a ‘signed-for’ delivery process. Your parcel will be delivered as instructed and a notification with photographic record sent to the mobile number and/or email address supplied to confirm safe delivery. This notification will be taken as acknowledgment of delivery and safe receipt. We therefore recommend someone is home to take receipt as soon as possible on the day of delivery as liability cannot be taken for parcels lost or stolen after safe delivery.
Should you wish the driver to follow specific instructions when leaving safe please provide written instructions in the notes box on the checkout page (such as a neighbour’s address, or a safe place to leave your box, e.g. ‘at side of garage’, or ‘in shed’).
If stipulating alternative delivery arrangements customers should be aware that this instruction will be regarded as equivalent to an acknowledgment of receipt of goods to the recipients home and no subsequent liability will therefore be taken by the courier company or by Garlic Wood Farm for any goods not received.
Please note that delivery dates may be affected by public and bank holidays.
Specific delivery dates may from time to time become unavailable for selection on the website due to high demand or circumstances outside of our control. Likewise additional ‘non-standard’ delivery dates and charges may be added during peak periods such as Christmas and Easter.
What happens if my delivery is delayed?
In exceptional circumstances DPD reserve the right to extend delivery from next day to a 48hr service. Our produce is packed with sufficient ice to ensure that it will remain chilled during transit should this additional day be required. Any items that have thawed partially during transit will remain safe to freeze once unpacked. Should this additional time be required the goods will still be considered to have been delivered within the guaranteed timeframe. We value our customer relationships, if you have concerns regarding your delivery once it has been received, or if items are missing or damaged in transit, please contact us straight away so that we can investigate and resolve any issue.
Box contents and item weights
In all cases we will endeavour to match the exact content descriptions given on our website when collating customer orders. However, please be aware that due to the nature of our product and because your order is being butchered and put together by-hand by our team of butchers there may occasionally be slight variation form the product as described. All weights listed are averages. Individual item weights may vary upwards or downwards slightly from those listed.
If we are unable to fulfil an individual part of an order we reserve the right to substitute that item for one of equivalent value and quality. We will never substitute one species for another in any order (e.g. substitute beef for pork). If your order is for a single item and this is not available we will notify you by email and you will have the right to accept a substitute or have your order refunded in full.
Offers and discounts
Special offers and discounts from listed prices may be offered from time to time. These will always be offered subject to availability and while stocks last.
Costs for delivery and all surcharges and minimum order values are calculated after discounts are applied. Should the use of an offer or discount code take the order value below a surcharge threshold the relevant charges will be applied.
Butchery Courses
When you purchase a butchery course for a specific date we’ll email you to confirm receipt of your order and confirm your place on that course. We will then send out a voucher to you in the post to the name and address supplied on booking (full details of the day’s itinerary will then follow 1-2weeks prior to the course date)
If you purchase an undated gift voucher we’ll email you to confirm receipt of your order and send you a voucher in the post to the name and address supplied on booking. This voucher is valid for 12months from the date of purchase. We will update the website with course dates, but please be aware that is the responsibility of the voucher recipient to contact us and book onto a course within the period for which the voucher is valid.
We will endeavour always to ensure that a planned course does go ahead, However, if a course is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control we will notify you in advance and give you the option of selecting an alternative date or accepting a full refund of the course cost. Likewise, we understand that you may need to cancel your course attendance due to unforeseen circumstances. In this case we will allow cancellation without charge up to 14days prior to the course date. You will be given the option of booking onto an alternative course at no extra charge provided it falls within the original period during which the voucher was valid.
