Traditional game-hung free-range goose with giblets from Appledore Farm in Kent.
Once again we're delighted to be able to source free-range geese from Appledore Farm as well as turkeys. The geese are allowed to roam freely with access to plenty of open space on this large farm on Romney Marsh. They have the time and space to grow slowly to full maturity fed on a natural wheat and vegetable diet, free of additives, drugs or growth promoters.
All Appledore geese are dry-plucked and allowed to hang prior to packaging in order to allow the flavour to develop. The result of this care and attention in the rearing and production process is a high-welfare bird that is beautifully flavoured and guaranteed to make a fantastic centre-piece to any Christmas dinner.
Unlike the larger turkeys geese are better suited to smaller gatherings, or in combination with other meats. They yield less meat, but the flavour is intense and rich so smaller amounts are required per person. Goose is perfect when paired with a simple festive-spiced red cabbage side and a fruit sauce. During cooking your goose will also give you plenty of fat to drain off and use to make your roast potatoes fluffy and crunchy!

All geese are sold in 1kg weight ranges, guaranteeing you a minimum weight (e.g. if you select a 5kg goose the weight of your goose will be a minimum of 5kg and a maximum of 5.99kg - but you will only be charged the 5kg price). Weight includes giblets - perfect for making proper gravy.

Please note that our geese are only available for Christmas pre-order. They are available for home delivery on Dec 21st or 22nd and for collection from our butchery between Dec 21st - 24th.
